Today I visited the ladies participating in the YWCA Encore program in Hamilton. We chatted and giggled about lemons, lemonade and mastectomy products. It was nice to meet the particpants and see the staff again and be reminded of exersises I should be doing more often!

During the cool down/meditation time some of the women shared with the group their 'happy place'. I noticed that many of those places involved being around water. I can agree with that - being on a beach, watching the waves, feeling the warm sun and breeze - very relaxing and peaceful!  

The YWCA Encore program is a great program that is free for women who have had breast surgery at any time in their life. The staff take you through floor and pool exercises, relaxation techniques and more!  There are sessions going on throughout the year and at many different locations across Canada, and the world.  Check on line or with your local YWCA to see if there is a program near you.

We celebrated with a special V.I.P. evening - thanks to all the ladies that came out and put on a great fashion show for us.

Today I stopped by the YWCA Encore program at the Ottawa Street YWCA.  This is a FREE 'after breast cancer' exersice program. It is designed for women who have had a mastectomy, lumpectomy or reconstruction and focuses on floor and pool exercises. 

It is much more then just an exercise class - thanks to the great ladies who lead the program! They create a warm and caring enviroment where women come together in all different stages of their breast cancer experience and can share their stories, laugh and cry and learn more about nutrition and other health related and well-being topics of interest.  (I know this first hand as I am an Encore graduate!)   

Today I was able to be a guest speaker and shared with the ladies my own 'Lemons to Lemonade' experience.

Today Mastectomy Lingere and More was an exibitor at the 50+ Lifestyles' Fair in Chesley. This was in support of the Rotary Club of Chesley and the community projects they support. 

We had a lovely basket of items that we had a draw for - and the lucky winner was Patricia H.

Today was the 6th biennial  Life After Breast Cancer Conference at the Hamilton Convention Centre.  This is a patient-focused conference presented by Hamilton Health Sciences and the Juravinski Cancer Centre. They make the most of this one day event by having many great speakers, presenting on topics relevant to breast cancer survivors. 

This year's theme focused on living well after a diagnosis of breast cancer and included a session by our own Arlaine Wright-Fitzgibbon, who is also a fitness instructor, speaking about how we can all incorporate fitness into our daily routines.

Mastectomy Lingerie and More was a Table Sponsor at this years conference.  I was able to showcase some products from my store and chat with the many participants.  I also held a draw at the end of the day and gave away 3 - $50 gift certificates.  The lucky winners were: Michelle I., Hayat S. and Alberta B. who generously passed it on to a friend.

Today we were excited to attend the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure for the Burlington-Hamilton-Oakville location at Burlington Central Park. As a Proud Local Sponsor for Burlington-Hamilton-Oakville we had a tent space where we were able to showcase some of our products.  

It was great day to meet and talk with many survivors and supportors for the local area. Despite the cold and rain fall day, 6,000 participants (and many 4 legged friends!)  came out in support of the event and the Burlington-Hamilton- Oakville location raised over $875, 000!  Fantastic!

Special thanks to my helpers who stood with me in the cold - Ian, Arlaine, Colleen, Scotty (& Odin too) - very much appreciated!
